Los Angeles, Calif. November 18, 2010 – Rocky Mountain Pictures will release The 5th Quarter, by writer/director Rick Bieber (Crazy), and starring Andie MacDowell (Groundhog Day) and Aidan Quinn (Legends of the Fall) in March 2011.  Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release the DVD and On-Demand exhibition following the theatrical run.

The 5th Quarter is an emotional, true story about family, inspiration, football and the gift of life. When a tragic car crash claims the life of fifteen year Luke Abbate, his older brother Jon considers ending his own college football career but instead decides to honor his brother’s memory and continue playing.  With his coach’s aproval, Jon changes his jersey to Luke’s number 5, and dedicates the upcoming football season in remembrance of his younger brother. Driven by Luke’s memory, Jon leads his underdog Wake Forest Demon Deacons to the ACC Championship, as they become the most improved team in America. With the support of his family, as they struggle with the pain of Luke’s loss, Jon helps rally a team, a school and a community to achieve more than could ever have been imagined.

“I am very appreciative of the support that Fox has given The 5th Quarter, and am confident that the collaboration of Fox and Rocky Mountain Pictures will be a successful one,” said director Rick Bieber, “There are some very important messages expressed by this film, and we’re grateful and thrilled that audiences will have the opportunity to see it.”

In addition, the film has won Best Picture awards at Charleston International Film Festival, Long Island International Film Festival, Louisville International Film Festival, and the Best Screenplay award at the Boston Film Festival.

“We are very excited to be working with Rick on such an uplifting film, and we believe that the Abbate’s story will impact families everywhere,” said Randy Slaughter and Ron Rodgers, partners of Rocky Mountain Pictures.

Deal was orchestrated by Jay Cohen of the Gersh Agency on behalf of Bieber and Executive Producer Bob J. McCreary.
