NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Servant Records/Gaither Music Group recording artist Guy Penrod was among scores of country artists making appearances recently at Country Radio Seminar (CRS), the annual gathering of country radio personnel, industry executives and country recording artists held in downtown Nashville. Penrod was interviewed by multiple radio outlets, and had a chance to catch up with friends such as 2010 ACM Top New Vocal Duo Joey + Rory (pictured, from L: Guy, Joey + Rory – photo credit: Martha E. Prior to CRS, Penrod was inducted into the Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame at ceremonies held February 26 at Dallas Baptist University. Penrod, a native Texan, joins an illustrious list of previous inductees including Larry Gatlin and the Gatlins; Glen Payne; Les Beasley; the Chuck Wagon Gang; Oak Ridge Boy Duane Allen; and Cynthia Clawson. Penrod is nominated for two Dove Awards: Country Album of the Year for his best-selling 2010 solo debut, Breathe Deep, and Country Recorded Song of the Year for “Are You The One,” written by Tammy Hyler and Shaye Smith.
Since stepping away from a 14-year tenure with the GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning Gaither Vocal Band, Penrod has celebrated a number of career milestones in the past year, including the release of Breathe Deep; success at both mainstream country and southern gospel radio formats; numerous sold-out tour dates in the United States and abroad; and such high profile appearances as CMA Music Fest and the National Quartet Convention.
