Nashville, Tenn. (May 20, 2011) - Moody Radio morning drive-time radio personality Perry LaHaie, along with his co-host Scott Curtis, recently welcomed popular Christian recording artist Jonny Diaz, along with Chris Lockwood and Jason Barton of the Christian rock band 33 Miles, to the studios of 89.3 FM, Moody Radio West Michigan.
The recording artists shared their hearts and music with listeners of LaHaie and Curtis' popular morning show, "Perry and Scott in the Morning."
Diaz performed an unplugged version of "Beauty of the Cross," the first single from his recently released eponymous CD. The singer, whose 2009 CD, More Beautiful You, produced the No. 1 radio single of the same name, told Perry and Scott about his original aspirations to be a baseball player. Following his three older brothers who seriously pursued baseball (brother Matt Diaz currently plays professional baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates), Diaz attended Florida State University on a baseball scholarship, until God called him to lay down that dream and pursue music.
Lockwood and Barton performed "Arms That Hold Universe," 33 Miles' latest single on the radio show. Lockwood and Barton also discussed the goal of the project, which is all about making the most out of each day for God and learning to trust God one day at a time. The artists told the story of a fan who confessed to cutting herself because she felt so overwhelmed with all of her problems. Lockwood and Barton, through their musical ministry, encouraged her to learn to trust God just for the next 5 minutes.
"What a joy to have Jonny Diaz and Chris and Jason from 33 Miles in our studio! What impressed me most was the genuineness of these guys — they are all about being servants, not celebrities," commented LaHaie. "What a gift it is for me to be on Moody Radio West Michigan; this open door for sharing God's heart and the music God has given me is way beyond what I could have ever planned. All glory to God!"
