Event To Launch On Friday, August 19, 2011 at Calvary Gospel Church In Waldorf, MD

(Washington, D.C.) - August 16, 2011 - Saxophonist Merlon Devine has always had a passion for music that touches the heart of God.  The popular recording artist and gifted instrumentalist has been recognized for his flawless tonality and brilliant execution.  Now the artist has launched his next step in ministry: Divine Connections.  The first concert will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 7:30PM and will feature the musician at his finest.  The concert will be held at Calvary Gospel Church (11150 Berry Road, Waldorf, MD 20603 - 240.349.2471) in the Banquet Hall.  There will be a VIP Reception at 6:15PM.  VIP and General Admission tickets can be purchased exclusively on MerlonDevine.com.  Divine Connections is the premiere Christ-centered event showcasing some of the best instrumental/jazz artist in the world.

Merlon is excited about the concert series and through it he plans to provide an avenue for people who want to hear live music in a sacred environment.  Devine says, "I want to provide a platform and a bridge for the many other gifted Christian jazz artists whose music often lacks exposure."  The event also serves as an outreach to those who may not flock to church for a Sunday service, but would welcome a great jazz concert.  Through Divine Connections, Devine wants to sow seeds to put young people on a path to "connect" them with "the Divine", Jesus Christ, as well as a local church body to help disciple them on their path.

On August 19th, D.C. native and Comedian Mike Washington will be the host for the evening. Also, Season 3 Sunday Best Top 20 finalist and recording artist Bethany Devine (from Little Rock, AR) will be the opening act.  At the quarterly event, fans of the saxophonist can support Missionary Cari Nash of Kampala, Uganda, who is a part of the missions organization, Every Nation.  At the Merlon Devine Music Ministry CD product table, handmade jewelry made by the people of the village in Kampala will be sold with 100% of the proceeds going back to them to support the school Missionary Nash runs for the children.
