Dallas Based Worship Band Reflects On 10 Weeks Of Performing At Youth Camps Across The Country
Nashville, TN (August 25, 2011) – With 10 weeks of performing at youth camps behind them, Dallas-based worship band, DUTTON, is excitedly looking over what their hard work, dedication and faithfulness this summer has brought them.
Here are a few of the stats:
- 10 straight weeks of leading worship 6 out of 7 days at camps and at their home church on Sunday
- Drove nearly 10,000 miles in their 15 passenger van to camps in Missouri, North Carolina, Colorado, Texas and Oklahoma (and back to their Richardson, TX home church each Sunday!)
- Led worship for over 20,000 people from more than 300 churches across the country
- Sold 3,000+ albums
- Gained 6,000 Facebook fans, bringing their follower numbers to nearly 20,000 http://www.facebook.com/duttonband
- More than 15,000 hits to their YouTube video of “Welcome Home” with lyrics and chords http://bit.ly/WHchords
- Added a new member to the Dutton family with the birth of Kinsley Rae Wilson on August 1st (happy parents are Shane [guitar/pedal-steel/BGVs] and Danielle Wilson)
More important than all the numbers, Dutton is grateful to have made an impact, not only with the teens, but also with the leaders and promoters of the summer events.
“AMAZING. I came into Falls Creek with a terrible attitude, I was into alcohol and smoking and all these bad things and you guys turned my life around. It was the second time I had seen you guys there and you guys just continue to amaze me. Thanks for everything you've done, without even knowing it.” ~ Trevor (camper)
“’I want to be amongst a people who know the presence of God in their midst, resulting in radiant, sometimes ecstatic worship.’ -A.W. Tozer -- Thursday night at Super Summer showed me exactly what this looks like. Thank you for allowing God to use you.” ~ Alexa (camper)
“Thank you so much for your ministry! As a sponsor at FallsCreek 2011, week 6 I cannot tell you how many times I was able to use your song ‘Welcome Home’ as a tool for leading students to Christ or helping them understand what it means to recommit their life to Christ. Thank you for allowing God to use your ministry in such a powerful way!” ~ Tabitha (counselor at Falls Creek camp)
"Words cannot describe how much I love and respect Dutton as camp worship leaders at Falls Creek! During their two weeks with us this summer we saw 679 students give their lives to Christ. It is a joy to watch them minister and an even greater joy to know them. These guys are easily some of my favorites in the faith!" ~ Andy Harrison, Falls Creek Program Director and Student Ministry Specialist at Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma
"It's a no-brainer for us - we have Dutton back each and every year at our camp. These guys are excellent musicians, but, more importantly, they have a passion for leading students in worship. I love Dutton - trust me, they're as good as it gets." ~ Bob Johns, Director at Sondays Camp (previously led by Chris Tomlin for 9 years)
"I highly recommend Dutton. They did such an amazing job at Super Summer that we already have them booked for next year. They are gifted in interacting with students on and off stage to lead them to connect with God and others." ~ Leighton Flowers, Director at Texas Super Summer
Logan Walter, Dutton’s frontman, reflects on their experiences this summer: "Hebrews 12:28 calls us to worship with reverence and awe, for we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. That's the kind of worship we experienced this summer, and what an immeasurable blessing it was to see hundreds, even thousands of young people join the unshakeable kingdom of Christ. To see His face is to be changed forever. And I, for one, am changed."
After a few weeks of rest, Dutton will be gearing up for more touring this Fall, including the National Youthworkers Convention in October and heading back out for their fourth year with the Planet Wisdom Conference tour. Additionally, the band continues to play every Sunday in their home church.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Walter began leading worship for his Sunday School class at the age of 13. When his family moved to Waco, TX, he teamed with Shane Wilson [guitar] and Jennings [drums] to lead a youth praise band and doors began opening for the trio, including a chance for Walter to mentor under David Crowder, frontman for the nationally popular group, David Crowder Band. Dutton began filling in as Crowder’s backup band at University Baptist Church when DCB was on tour and, as their reputation of being a solid worship band quickly spread, their calendar began filling with youth conferences and events. In 2007, Brian Patterson [guitar/keys] and Josh Hicks [bass] joined the other three and Dutton was invited to lead Sunday worship at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, TX, where they remain today. During the week between Sunday services, Dutton travels across the country leading worship for youth camps, events and conferences.
