Winner of the 2009 Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel Album of the year“CHANGE THE WORLD”

Dove Awards were recently handed out in Nashville for the 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards. After several nominations over the last decade, singer/songwriter Martha Munizzi won her first Dove Award in the category of Contemporary Gospel Album for her latest independent CD release, Change the World.

The project on Munizzi’s own indie recording label, Martha Munizzi Music, won in a category filled with some of Gospel’s best including Mary Mary, CeCe Winans, Take 6 and Tye Tribbett & G.A. “I am a huge fan of gospel music,” says Munizzi. “I consider it an honor just to be included in the same company as some of my favorites in the industry and such respected artists and friends!” Munizzi was also nominated in the category of Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song Of The Year for the tune, "Favor of God."

Televised live on the Gospel Music Channel and held at the historic Grand Ole Opry in Nashville; Munizzi and her twin sister, Mary Alessi, kicked off the live telecast as presenters with a hilarious skit about sibling rivalry.

Munizzi is known for her modern-day gospel classics such as “Because of Who You Are”, “Glorious”, “Say the Name” and “Jesus Is The Best Thing.” With two Grammy Award nominations, two Stellar Awards, and now a Dove Award on her shelf, Munizzi continues to place her own definitive stamp on the Gospel music industry as an Independent recording artist.
