MOODY DRIVE-TIME RADIO HOST AND RECORDING ARTIST MINISTERS IN EASTERN TURKEY
Perry LaHaie Recounts Stories of Sharing Jesus' Love with Muslims
Perry LaHaie in Eastern Turkey

Nashville, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2011) - Moody Radio morning drive-time radio personality and recording artist Perry LaHaie recently returned from Eastern Turkey where he spent time with a church planting team, led worship with fellow believers and met with native Muslims throughout the region.

LaHaie, a recording artist with Frontiers, an international community of people dedicated to inviting Muslims all over the world to follow Jesus, traveled throughout Turkey, meeting Muslims in coffee shops, at the airport, on the streets, and praying and sharing his Endless Fields CD with whomever he met.

"I felt impressed to share my CD with a coffee shop worker in the airport in Istanbul," LaHaie says of one meeting. "She seemed very tired as she was fasting for Ramadan — the Islamic fast. So I said 'You seem tired. I'll pray for you.' She sincerely thanked me and then I shared my CD with her. My prayer is that she realizes she doesn't have to work to earn God's love but realizes the free gift that's in Jesus."

LaHaie tells of another conversation with a young Muslim student.

"I shared one of my CDs with him," LaHaie says. "He immediately requested me as a friend on Facebook saying that he was blown away by "Be Thou My Vision." I'm praying to build bridges with him."

Though LaHaie experienced many positive encounters, he returned from his trip feeling overwhelmed, he says.

"It was overwhelming to feel the weight of oppression, the weight of a people trying to earn God's favor, the weight of a people longing to know they're right with God, but can never know for sure. …In the city I was staying in, there are 500,000 souls. And among these 500,000 there are maybe 20 believers and 20 workers. And in another city we visited, Yuksekova, just 20 miles from Iran, there are no known believers and no workers… The harvest is huge and the workers are few!
