NASHVILLE, Tenn.—A Thousand Years, the latest recording from acclaimed pianist and composer Stanton Lanier, has been named to Christianity Today’s list of Notable Sacred Music for 2011. In addition to A Thousand Years, Christianity Today cites recent recordings by Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass, Jackie Evancho, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Canadian Brass, and The St. Olaf Choir, among others.
“…A Thousand Years delivers the message of God’s hope and peace with soothing hymn melodies wrapped around familiar classical tunes,” says Christianity Today commentator Jane Holstein, Director of Music Ministry at First Presbyterian Church in River Forest, Illinois, and an editor for Hope Publishing Co. “Through his innovative Get Music Give Hope initiative, part of Lanier’s Music To Light The World ministry, these CDs will find their way into countless hospitals and cancer centers, offering comfort through mesmerizing, gentle compositions.”
Produced by Grammy Award-winning Windham Hill Records founder Will Ackerman, A Thousand Years features 12 Scripture-inspired instrumental selections encompassing original compositions, hymns and classical works. Highlights of the project include the title cut, drawn from Psalm 90; “For A Lifetime Blessings Flow” (Psalm 30), featuring interpretations on “The Doxology”; and Pachelbel’s “Canon In D,” interwoven with Lanier’s Psalm 19-inspired “Across The Skies.”
Through Lanier’s “Get Music Give Hope” program, part of his Music To Light The World ministry, one of his CDs is given to a cancer center or hospital with every album purchased. Since November 2009, more than 20,000 patients around the country have received Lanier’s music.
A former chemist and financial planner, Lanier has released seven albums since 2001, and his works have been featured on The Weather Channel; National Public Radio; “Delilah”; and Sirius XM’s “Spa” channel, among numerous other outlets.
Lanier will be performing A Thousand Years tour dates throughout 2012, featuring selections from each of his seven recordings, complimented by captivating visuals. For further information, and a complete tour schedule, visit www.stantonlanier.com.
