Award-winning Surf/Skate/Snow Triathalon to Air in 200 Million+ Households
The one-hour special will bring the compelling Surf/Skate/Snow solo and team triathlon-style competition to viewers in 26 million households on Fuel TV and an additional 200 million households in syndication.
The weeklong competition, held in Big Bear and Ventura, California in April, featured over 90 athletes competing to find the individual and team who could conquer the art of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding.
The event, which was featured in The New York Times as part of the newspaper's "Pushing the Limit" series, crowned solo champion Chad Shetler and team champion Team Hosoi, led by legendary skateboarder Christian Hosoi. The winners were awarded the prestigious "Ultimate BoarderTM" title and shared cash prizes totaling $58,500.00.
The first-ever challenge of its kind, The Ultimate BoarderTM was created in response to the growing popularity of these sports, with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle among young athletes in a positive and competitive environment that grooms role models and sports heroes for our country's next generation.
The Ultimate BoarderTM television special is slated to air eight times on the Fuel TV network beginning on June 22, 2009. The show will then air in syndication from July through September on national networks including DISH Network, DIRECTV, AT&T U-Verse,
@ Sports Network, Untamed Sports TV and MavTV Network, as well as on regional networks including ComCast SportsNet, SportSouth, MSG Plus+, Sun Sports Network, Fox Sports, Mid Atlantic Sports Network and more.
