The day long event on Saturday, July 21st entitled “Rock The Island’ will be held on Ojibway Island in Saginaw from 12 -8 PM.

The event will include performances from international, national and regional artists, such as Thousand Foot Krutch, Grits, Press Play, Scarlet White & The Michael Maher Band with MC/Speaker, former All-American football player, Brian Pruitt. In addition to musical performances there will be a comedian, a kid’s zone with a puppet show, food vendors, prayer tent and representation of many area ministries.

The vision of this free event came to several area men at about the same time in January of this year and fate put them together to make it a reality in six short months.“The goal is to provide a great positive concert event similar to others held on the western side of the state with the big differences being that this is in Mid-Michigan and this event is completely FREE to attendees “said, RTI  Steering Committee member, Dave Borowsky. “We are encouraging attendees to bring friends, especially friends who have never experienced a concert featuring Christian artists, to discover what a great time they can have without the imposition of negative messages.

Let’s face it, Mid-Michigan is experiencing a depressed economy and it certainly couldn’t hurt to bring some positive encouragement to our youth”. Area businesses embraced the idea of this free positive event and have agreed to financially support it. Saginaw authorities have been extremely cooperative in helping with the planning as
well. Ojibway Island, located at Ezra Rust Drive at the Saginaw River in Saginaw, will open to the public at 11AM on Saturday, July 21st, bands will begin at noon. Seating is first come, first serve. For more information please visit the website at www.rocktheisland.net.
