Garners Two Nominations For BEST GOSPEL ALBUM and BEST GOSPEL SONG

Houston, TX (December 6, 2012) - Breakthrough gospel artist James Fortune receives two coveted Grammy nominations for his early 2012 Light Records/FIYA World Music release IDENTITY. Fortune is a first time Grammy nominee earning a nod for Best Gospel Album.  His cross-over single, "Hold On" featuring Monica & Fred Hammond also received a nomination for Best Gospel Song.  The Grammy Awards will be given out during the 55th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 10th 2013 and will be televised on CBS.

IDENTITY is Fortune's fourth studio album and was met by both consumer and critical acclaim.  The album not only debuted at Number 7 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart but was the No 1 album on three additional Billboard Charts: Gospel, Gospel & Christian (combined) and Independent Albums.

Two top songs, "Still Able," which peaked at No 1 on the singles chart and "Hold On" which is currently at No 5 on the singles chart, spurned the success of the album and continues its impact on the genre.

IDENTITY is a powerful collection of 15 soul-stirring songs of encouragement, hope and healing that speaks into the hearts of everyone.  A dynamic songwriter, producer and arranger, Fortune delivered a timely message that has clearly connected with a wide audience.

Fortune is a multiple Stellar Award Winner and received two Stellar Award nominations this year earning both Group/Duo Of The Year and Contemporary Group/Duo Of The Year nods.

In 2005, Fortune & F.I.Y.A. set the world ablaze with their breakthrough debut album YOU SURVIVED and lead single, of the same name, which peaked at #2 on the R&B Gospel singles chart, and garnered him the ASCAP Writer's Award for Gospel Song of the Year in 2006. He amassed worldwide recognition in 2009 with the award winning song "I Trust You" off his sophomore release THE TRANSFORMATION. "I Trust You" held the number one slot on the Gospel National Airplay chart for an astounding 30 weeks, making history by becoming the longest running #1 single for any genre.   Fortune continued amassing accolades with subsequent success with the soaring single "I Believe," which garnered him his second ASCAP Writer's Award and a Soul Train nomination for "Best Gospel Performance" in 2011.
