NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Rooms, the debut novel from Seattle-based writer and marketer James L. Rubart, is receiving critical media acclaim, as well as rave reviews from leading figures in the Christian literary and music worlds.  Masterfully combining elements of suspense, mystery and romance to tell a story of redemption and hope, Rooms releases April 1 from B&H Books.

Publishers Weekly calls Rooms “a suspenseful tale in the vein of Ted Dekker’s House, in which inexplicable happenings take over and direct a character’s life...  Rubart’s work clips along nicely, and his premise is compelling.”

Robert Liparulo, best-selling author of Comes A Horseman, Germ and the Dreamhouse Kings series, says “Rooms is an extraordinary read.  It’s a time-and mind-bending exploration of regret and redemption, expertly crafted by a new and talented author.  Part The Screwtape Letters, part The Shack, and all James Rubart’s fresh, authoritative voice, Rooms manages to at once entertain and stir thoughts about how our temporal decisions affect us for eternity.”

Rooms is also generating buzz within the music community.  GRAMMY® Award-winning Spring Hill/Nine North recording artist Jason Crabb says of the novel, “I have never read a more riveting demonstration of ‘gain the world yet lose your own soul’ in my life!  James Rubart puts Scripture, modern events and absolute mystery into words and chapters that kept me on the edge of my bunk every night.”

Russ Lee, lead vocalist for NewSong, commented, “James Rubart has given us a page-turner, full of mystery, intrigue and spirituality. A great story and worthwhile read. I enjoyed every page!”

Set in the Pacific Northwest, Rooms uses the journey of young corporate executive Micah Taylor to tell a powerful story of God’s relentless pursuit of His own.  In a house on the Oregon coast willed to him by a great-uncle, Micah is forced to confront the pain of his past, the uncertainty of his future, and the reality of spiritual warfare, as he rediscovers God’s plan for his life.

James L. Rubart is a professional marketer and speaker.  He serves on the board of the Northwest Christian Writers Association, and pens recurring columns for Christian Fiction Online Magazine and Christian Women Online.  Rubart lives near Seattle with his wife and two sons.
