NASHVILLE, Tenn.— I Will Carry You: The Sacred Dance of Grief and Joy by Angie Smith will be available beginning May 1 from B&H Publishing Group. Chronicling the pregnancy, birth and death of her daughter, Audrey Caroline, I Will Carry You is the story of a mother’s loss and a child’s legacy. Smith’s testimony, along with insight from the biblical account of Lazarus, offers a resource for those seeking peace in the midst of pain.
Expecting their fourth child in 2008, Smith and her husband Todd, a founding member of the Dove Award-winning group Selah, learned of various conditions that would make life outside of the womb impossible for their daughter. Advised to terminate the pregnancy, the Smiths knew such a decision was not an option and chose to carry the baby. Audrey Caroline Smith was born April 7, 2008, and lived for just over two hours.
During her pregnancy, Smith began a blog, “Bring The Rain” www.audreycaroline.blogspot.com, initially meant to update family and friends about the circumstance. The blog, which exploded in popularity and now sees up to 15,000 unique visitors a day, became a foundation and inspiration for I Will Carry You.
“This is a beautiful and tender book that would touch any woman’s heart, no matter her age or realm of experience,” says best-selling author and speaker Beth Moore. “It is about a relationship so intimate with God that it carves a safe place for crises of faith, for faith proved genuine, and for divine callings willed, sealed and fulfilled.”
Angie Smith holds a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Vanderbilt University and resides in Nashville, Tennessee. She continues to pen Bring The Rain, in addition to leading a women’s Bible study, a book club, and making various speaking engagements. Todd and Angie Smith have three girls and are expecting their fifth daughter later this year.
